Susan Meeking, DVM, DACVIM, DACVECCDr. Meeking was born and raised in Canada. She attended the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatchewan and graduated with her DVM, following two years of undergraduate education and graduation from a Veterinary Technician program. She moved to NYC after graduation to continue her training as a rotating intern at the Animal Medical Center, followed by a four year combined residency in Internal Medicine and Critical Care. She was the recipient of the AMC resident research award for her research on obesity and diet in cats.

Following board certification in both Internal Medicine and Critical Care, Dr. Meeking took a position as staff doctor at the Animal Medical Center. In 2009 she joined the Emergency and Critical Care department of Garden State Veterinary Specialists in Tinton Falls NJ. In 2016 she left NJ to become medical director of their newest hospital, Greater Staten Island Veterinary Services


Dr. Meeking has a special interest in toxicities, trauma, shock, and endocrine emergencies. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter as well as her dog Maple and guinea pigs Chewbacca and Han Solo. She enjoys the outdoors, travel, reading, yoga, cooking, and knitting.
