Our board-certified veterinary surgeon has over 20 years of experience serving pets and their families in New Jersey.
Dr. Laura Culbert is a board-certified veterinary surgeon with more than 20 years of experience serving pets and their families throughout New Jersey. She completed her advanced surgical training at the renowned Animal Medical Center in New York City and has developed expertise across a broad range of surgical procedures. While she enjoys all aspects of surgery, her special interests include orthopedic, cardiovascular, and reconstructive surgery.
Throughout her training and career, Dr. Culbert has a passion for wildlife conservation that has taken her beyond traditional veterinary settings, including time spent in South Africa working with a big cat sanctuary and learning firsthand about conservation efforts impacting lion populations. Dr. Culbert has provided surgical care for some of New Jersey’s largest zoological institutions, with a special focus on large felines.
At Garden State Veterinary Specialists Morristown, Dr. Culbert is dedicated to delivering advanced surgical care in a patient-focused environment. Her approach emphasizes minimizing stress for both pets and their families whenever possible. Many procedures can be performed with same-day discharge, allowing patients to recover comfortably at home while benefiting from advanced pain management techniques, including regional nerve blocks and epidurals. For patients requiring additional monitoring or overnight care, Dr. Culbert works closely with owners to coordinate the most appropriate postoperative plan.
Known for her compassionate and collaborative approach, Dr. Culbert takes the time to understand each patient’s unique needs, answer questions thoroughly, and guide families through treatment decisions with clarity and confidence.
Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Culbert enjoys the creative arts, gardening, and preparing meals for family and friends.
